Obituary of Tyler Christopher OSBORN

June 10, 1977 – Calgary, Alberta January 31, 2018 – High River, Alberta Tyler Osborn of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the age of 40 years. Tyler was raised in the community of Midnapore next door to McInnis and Holloway’s Fish Creek location. He and his sister enjoyed spending time biking through Fish Creek Park so it seemed appropriate to have his funeral at this facility which borders the park. His first school was Midnapore Elementary where he went for grades one through six. He was an excellent student and had first class honors throughout public school. At the end of his time at Midnapore School, he was chosen to play a role in a science TV program. He was chosen because he was very outgoing and an excellent science student. The show was called “Mr. Wizard’s World” and a scientist plus student assistant performed experiments. Tyler was paid $50 an episode and he thought he was a star lol. He bought his first Nintendo with the proceeds. While attending the University of Calgary, Ty worked part time at Spruce Meadows just south and west of here. By that time, the family had moved to Dalhousie in the Northwest part of the city so it was a long way to work at Spruce Meadows. After driving him a few times to work for a 6:00 a.m. start, it was apparent he needed his own car. A Nissan Pulsar was purchased for $1000. He loved that little car and worked on it by the hour in the garage. He had it working like a charm and did some bodywork on it plus kept it immaculately clean. At the end of his time at university he sold it for a profit. Tyler continued to work full time at Spruce Meadows after university. Between part time and full time work he was there a total of nineteen years in various capacities up to vice-president. He was organized, efficient, hard-working and well-liked by clients and co-workers. Ty married the love of his life Amy in May of 2009. They enjoyed an active lifestyle while together. For recreation, Ty loved to ski with family and friends. He also loved to go quading with friends, and boating off the BC coast with his in-laws. As a youngster, he became quite proficient at playing the organ but refused to play once he hit his teens as it wasn’t cool anymore. Ty was very handy at fixing things and working on the house and helped tremendously with renovating our Midnapore house when he was a teen. His biggest attribute was his willingness to help others, especially his sister Jocelyn and his mom. Tyler was taken from us by a terrible addiction which stole his job, his marriage, his home, his self-dignity and ultimately his life. He loved and was loved by his mom and sister and was such an intelligent, thoughtful and kind person. Tyler we will always love you and you will be dearly missed. Rest in peace now without pain. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Tyler Osborn, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB Telephone: 403-256-9575.
