Obituary of Karsten Baunsgaard ANDERSEN

September 20, 1997 – Calgary Alberta
October 10, 2020 – Calgary Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of our beloved Karsten Andersen on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

Karsten was born at the Rockyview hospital in Calgary on September 20, 1997. In his early years, Karsten began to show a big interest in music which would later take him to amazing places and opportunities. Karsten later began school and attended McKenzie Lake Elementary. In 2006 he moved with his family to Airdrie, AB, where he received his first drum kit. He began school at Nose Creek Elementary, and proceeded to Muriel Clayton Middle School and finally graduated from Bert Church High School in 2015. Karsten excelled in the High School concert and jazz band programs. Karsten traveled throughout Alberta with the bands and eventually toured Seattle, Washington and Bejing, China where he performed on the Great Wall and viewed the world renowned Emperors Terracotta Army. Karsten received the highest of honours and awards available for achievements and excellence in music. He was looked upon highly by his musical peers the best drummer they had played with. During high school Karsten also was a drum instructor at Music Center Canada in Airdrie.

Karsten and his family took many trips together over the years. Summer trips to Kelowna, trips to Mexico where he swam with the dolphins and sea turtles. Karsten loved all things music, everything 80s and Star Wars.  Most notably Karsten and his family took a trip together to Disneyland in October 2019 where he got to fly the Millennium Falcon at Disneys, Galaxy’s Edge.

Karsten’s love and unbreakable bond with his family was undeniably his most precious asset. In his last few months, Karsten found sobriety through his higher power and was on top of the world thanks to his brothers and staff at Simon House.

Karsten is survived by his loving parents, Victoria and Lars and sister Ryleigh. He is also survived by his grandparents, Paul and Ulla Andersen as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved immensely. Karsten loved his dogs Frodo and Motley and will be missed by them.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Karsten’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.  If friends and family so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karsten’s name to Simon House recovery center in Calgary.
