Obituary of Glenn Robert CRANSTON

January 21, 1948 – Calgary, Alberta
October 19, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sorrow that the family announce the passing of their beloved husband, father and grampa, Glenn Robert Cranston, on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the age of 72 years after a long battle with cancer.

He is fondly remembered by his brother Doug Cranston (Bonnie) of Squamish, BC, and sister Donna Lepore of Calgary, AB. He is also remembered by Randy (Anne) Haynes and their family and Henry (Shirley) Valstar our extended family.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Carol and his faithful companion Charlee, son Michael (Amy) Cranston of Smith Falls, ON, daughter Brandi (John) MacKenzie of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Noah Lockwood, Sara MacKenzie; son Jason (Marrian) Valstar of Rimbey, AB, Cassidy (Luke) Thebeau, Megan, Kyle and Jordyn Valstar.

Glenn was a quiet, gentle man with a big heart. He was generous and devoted to his family, friends and neighbours. He loved to share stories of his life and his favourite memories of vacations shared with family; camping in Kananaskis, AB and Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, cruising the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Alaska and especially the serene splendor that he enjoyed so much in Hawaii. He enjoyed his retirement, spending time with the grandchildren, game nights with his family, socializing with neighbors, working in the yard, taking in sports, and he was an avid news watcher.

It was Glenn’s wish to thank everyone who prayed for him, visited him, telephoned or video called during his final battle with cancer. This brought great joy and comfort. He would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Melanie Murphy, Dr. Jason Tay, Dr. Nimira Alimohamed, Dr. Siraj Husain, and all the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the staff and nurses at Foothills Country Hospice, Unit 58 at South Health Campus and Pat Silva who was his Palliative Care manager. Words cannot express the gratitude he has for all these compassionate people. Glenn would also like to thank his family during his fight with cancer and his parting message is:

“Cry not that I am gone but celebrate that I was once here and we shared wonderful memories together.
Aloha 'Oe – Until We Meet Again”

Glenn chose not to have a funeral or memorial service, preferring a simple cremation and private family interment at a suitable time in the future. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Glenn’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Glenn Cranston, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th STREET SE, CALGARY, AB T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.
