Obituary of Armida BENACCHIO (nee Nicola)

Armida Benacchio of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020, at the age of 74 years.

Armida was born in Valdobbiadene, Italy, on December 16, 1945. On August 8, 1964, she married Giovanni and shortly after, the two of them immigrated to Calgary, AB. The first part of her life was spent as a stay at home wife and mother. Later on in life, she began working at McDonald’s and worked there for thirty-eight years before retiring. Armida loved sharing McDonald’s toys with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Armida enjoyed painting statues, growing tomatoes, and taking care of all her birds. She was particularly proud of all of her years of service at McDonald's, and her Golden Anniversary and she adored her dog, Bella.

Armida is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Derek Hasegawa; son Roberto, son and daughter-in-law, Egidio and Nikki; six grandchildren, Chad and Kent Hasegawa, Egidio Fahl, Antonio, Matteo, and Tavia Benacchio. She is also survived by her brother Renato Nicola, sister Franca Geronazzo, sister-in-law Carla Nicola as well as many other surviving relatives and friends in both Canada and Italy. Armida was predeceased by her loving husband Giovanni Benacchio, her parents, Luigi and Maria Nicola, brother Fausto Nicola; and sister Emanuela Nicola.
