Obituary of Nelly Johanna AUDRETSCH

October 18, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Nelly, beloved wife of Tonny Audretsch (predeceased), of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Born in Jakarta on the island of Java in Indonesia, Nelly moved to the Netherlands after WWII. After completing her studies to become a clinical technician and working for short stint in The Hague, she met and married Tonny and they both immigrated to Canada in 1956. Nelly worked for a time at the Holy Cross hospital in Calgary before embracing life as a stay-at-home mother, raising her two children, Jenny and Peter. Thanks to Tonny's job with Shell, the family moved around ultimately settling in Calgary. Once the kids were grown, Nelly decided to go back to work, and dedicated the next years to working the lab for the Associate Clinical Pathologists - a role she she loved.

Nelly is survived by her daughter Jenny and son-in-law Douglas Crawford; her son Peter and daughter-in-law Evelyn Audretsch; five grandchildren, Meaghan and Scott Crawford, Angela Owen (nee Audretsch), Lisa Sweetman (nee Audretsch) and Hilary Crerar (nee Audretsch); five great-grandchildren, Findlay and Oliver Sweetman, Archie and Angus Owen and Robyn Crerar; and three grand-furbabies.
