Obituary of Joan “Marlene” MAGUSS (nee Swystun)

February 23, 1935 – Regina, Saskatchewan
October 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Marlene Maguss, beloved wife of Harry, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 85.

Marlene was a very kind, happy and gracious lady with a positive attitude, contagious smile and plenty of personality.  For the past three years, Marlene courageously fought a battle against cancer.

Marlene and Harry were married in 1969 and recently celebrated their fifty-first Wedding Anniversary.  Upon their retirement, Marlene and Harry enjoyed the "Snowbird" lifestyle for many years, wintering on the southern California coast where Marlene loved the ocean.  Marlene was an exceptional cook and baker as well as a fashionable seamstress.  She was a long-time member at Country Club of The Hamptons where she proudly scored a "Hole-In-One".  Ladies' Day was always a favorite of Marlene's when she enjoyed golfing with her girlfriends.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband and soulmate Harry as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Michael Swystun; and her brothers, Dave and Gordon.

At Marlene's request, there will be no funeral service.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Marlene’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Marlene Maguss, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
