October 23, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Clarence LaPlante, of Calgary Alberta, passed away into the arms of the Great Creator on Friday, October 23rd, 2020 at the age of 83 years surrounded by his beloved son, daughter-in-law and sister.

Clarence was born in Grandview, Manitoba on July 11, 1937.He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1981.

 

He was a very proud Metis and he dedicated his life to his culture and people.  He loved to watch his niece and nephews preform traditional hoop dancing and jigging.

Clarence accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of being a volunteer for many different organizations, but especially for the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind).

 

Clarence loved spending time with his family, especially cheering them on as they played baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman and this showed through his work as a Park Ranger.

 

He will be most remembered for his unique sense of humor and the laughter he brought to others.

 

Clarence is survived by his sister Julia; his son Gilbert (Tina) and daughter Jodee (Trevor); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Clarence was predeceased by his mother Mary Jane and father Joseph; brother Gabriel; sisters Alice (Ed) and Agnes (Cyril); and his brother-in-law Fred.
