Obituary of Anna Odile HANKEL

April 25, 1930 - St. Paul, Alberta
October 26, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Anna Hankel, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at the age of 90 years.

 

Anna was born in St. Paul, AB, on April 25, 1930, to Albert and Regina Noel. She was the youngest of twelve siblings. She lived most of her adult life in Midnapore, where she spent many hours playing her guitar and singing or in her gardens. She also enjoyed the CWL, singing with “the Good Neighbors Club” and doing crafts with the seniors at Father Lacombe nursing home.  She later moved to Sundance on the Greens, where she lived for approximately ten years.

 

Anna is survived by her children, Louise Behiel, Albert Hankel, Jean Hankel and Lonnie Matsuno, Clarence & Cathy Hankel, Nancy & Andy Seeger, & Theresa (T) and John Stoodley.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Behiel, Sabrina (Greg) Redl, Tanya (Doug) Geier, Tammy (Dale) Shafer, Shelley (Keith) Pitzel, Crystal Hankel and Damon Ortega, Candace (Ty) Paksi, Trevor Seeger, Lucas Seeger, Josh Corbeil-Stoodley and Izzy Stoodley.  Anna was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Suzanne in 1969, both her parents and all eleven siblings.


The family will be holding a private funeral service and a video of the service will be available on the McInnis and Holloway website Thursday, November 5, 2020.  We would cherish you sharing your favourite stories, images or videos on the site. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Monterey Park Seniors Village in NE, Calgary, for caring for mom in her final stages of Alzheimer's and for making her final days filled with music, caring and compassion.
