Obituary of Gerald William NOBLES

April 13, 1938 – Edmonton, Alberta
October 23, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Gerald “Ged” Nobles, beloved husband of Antoinette “Toni” Nobles (nee Ziegler), of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at  home  surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the age of 82 years.

 

Ged was born in Edmonton, AB on April 13, 1938. He graduated from Westglen high school.  He had many different careers in his lifetime: he worked at Fruehauf Trailers in Edmonton, AB, he was the Manager for Western Canada, he was a cattle rancher in Burtonsville, AB, he was the manager for Western Turf Horse Transportation in Edmonton, AB, a partner and owner of Airways Leasing in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and he also had numerous other successful businesses and real estate investments. He retired in the foothills near Longview, AB and then moved to Calgary, AB following a life-altering motor vehicle accident. Ged was always a hard worker, and would always say he was doing “200 Percent”.

 

He loved to be involved in team roping and horse racing.  His biggest passion was his family, his “Oak Room” hospitality venue, his Highwood River fishing cabin and horseback rides in Kananaskis.  He was also a snowbird and spent numerous winters in Phoenix with Toni, and enjoyed 15 winters in their home in Las Vegas, where they made numerous friends and rode their horses in the desert. 

 

Ged will be most remembered for his love of family, his endless generosity, and his unique ability to mentor and advise those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.  

 

Besides Toni, his loving wife of 61 years, Ged is survived by his three sons and one daughter.  Todd W. Nobles of Black Diamond, AB, Timothy G. Nobles & wife Lee-Ann of Calgary, AB, Teddy E. Nobles of Okotoks, AB, and Tracey M. Bews & husband Guy of Longview, AB; five grandchildren, Zack, Austin, Jace, Cooper and Tony; and two great-grandchildren, Haze and Tuff. 

 

He was predeceased by his parents Grace and Edgar Ernest Nobles and his brother Raymond Edgar Nobles.

 

Due to the current Covid situation, a Celebration of Ged’s Life will be announced at a later date.
