Obituary of Margaret TOLPPANEN

October 29, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Margaret Ann Tolppanen (nee Robinson) passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the age of 84. 

Born on November 8, 1935 in Bristol, United Kingdom to William and Florence Robinson, she came to Canada in 1957. Married to Leo in 1959, they lived in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec before moving to Calgary in 1977. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading (especially mystery fiction), attending the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and other performances, exercising at the Southland Leisure Centre, and traveling across Canada and the United States as well as to China, Thailand, Finland, Germany, France, Turkey, and Britain. Margaret was a great dog lover and enjoyed her beloved Misty, Mandy and Millie. Margaret was active with Southwood United Church and in retirement volunteered with Inn from the Cold and the Calgary Food Bank.  

Margaret is lovingly remembered by sons, Eric (Patricia) and Bradley (Lori); daughter Lori-Ann (Pat) and grandchildren, Chelsea, Adam, Benjamin, Emma, Nicholas and William. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Leo and by her son, Dean.
