Obituary of Yvette DESPINS-DION

Yvette Despins-Dion, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the age of 88 years. 

She was born June 30, 1932 at La Broquerie Manitoba.  She was the seventeenth child of Alphonse Lord and Maria Kirouac. 

Yvette moved to Calgary at a young age to live with her sister.  She worked at Holy Cross Hospital for several years before marrying and raising her children, later in life she worked at Rockyview General hospital and in some domestic roles.  She was a long-time active member of the Ste. Famille Parish and french choral group Voix des Rocheuse.   Her wonderful disposition remained with her even as her Alzheimer’s progressed.      

Yvette is survived by her children, Lorraine  (Ernie) Osinchuk, Marc Despins, Philippe (Vickie) Despins, Gisele Sweetland (Larry Markus);  seven grandchildren, Danielle, Andre, Robert, Joelle, Justine, Toni, Chantal; and also by four great-grandchildren,  Dominic, Violet, Desiree, Willow; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, all siblings; two spouses, Bernard Despins and Larry Dion 2013; and two sons, Jules and Roger.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ste. Famille Catholic Church (1719 – 5th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside service to follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
