Obituary of Tyson Christopher POPE

September 10, 2005 – Calgary, Alberta

November 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness to announce that Tyson Christopher Pope passed away on November 22, 2020 at the age of 15 years while surrounded by his family at the Rotary Flames House after a 14 month battle with cancer.

Tyson began his journey on September 10, 2005 in Calgary, AB. His incredibly bright blue eyes stole hearts from day one. Tyson was a child who enjoyed sports including playing goal for the Strathmore Spurs for several years and Nose Guard for the Chestermere Chiefs (#88). You would often see Tyson on a boat, fishing with his grandpa or in the yard whittling wood where he earned the nickname “Chipper”. He enjoyed the great outdoors with his family whether it was on the ATV, or just getting together around a fire.

Throughout his battle, Tyson always put others before himself. He would give family members and other cancer warriors inspirational talks, and encourage them along the way. He made friends wherever he went with his magnetic personality and quick wit. Tyson was incredibly smart and could surprise anyone with random facts and information. His sense of humor was second to none and his positive attitude and spirit filled everyone with joy.

May you always have an angel by your side.

Tyson is survived by his loving parents, Christine Urichuk (Ryan E.), Carl Pope (Mandy R.); his younger brother, Carter Pope, his older brother, William Pope (Rae P.) and his niece Bella. Tyson was sadly predeceased by his Grandfather, Roy Pope of Bay L’Argent, NL.  Tyson will be greatly missed by his surviving Grandparents, Ron Urichuk (Hedy M.), Lynn (Calvin) Sturgeon, and Barbara Pope along with his Aunt Lisa Hodder (Zachary and Shelby), Uncle Rodney (Freda) Pope, Uncle Leroy (Jennifer) Pope, Aunt Gail Fontaine Pope, and Uncle David Pope, and numerous cousins and family friends.
