Obituary of Harold NASH

November 30, 1932 – Thorhild, Alberta
November 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Harold Nash passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2020 in Calgary, AB, with family by his side.  Harold was born on a farm near Thorhild, AB, the youngest of eleven children.  He graduated from the U of A (Engineering) in 1956.  Harold met his wife Anne and after marrying, they moved to Calgary in 1962, where they raised their children Robert and Susan.  As a Civil Engineer, Harold helped shape many structures in Western Canada, including McMahon Stadium, the Saddledome, the Olympic Speedskating Oval, and countless bridges and schools.  Although Harold struggled physically with MS for many years, he never let that slow him down.  Harold was a true engineer and loved to design and build everything from a tree fort for the grandkids to the family cabin to a unique log splitter.  He was always busy – taking his beloved dogs for a walk, making bread and oatcakes, playing with his grandchildren or making up bedtime stories for them.  Always loving and patient, Harold was very involved in watching his grandkids’ creative performances and sports activities.  At 80, they had the opportunity to come to his performances with “The Perfectly Imperfects” singing group.

Harold will be lovingly remembered by his son Robert (Lynne) and daughter Susan; grandchildren Angela (AJ), Alex, Emily, Cole, and Julia; and great-grandson Wesley. Harold was predeceased by his wife Anne.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society, 5000 – 11 Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2Y5, Telephone: (403) 253-2059, www.calgaryfoodbank.com.
