Obituary of Joan Mary DYSON (nee Crawley)

Joan Dyson, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the age of 82 years, at Dulcina Hospice, after a brave fight against cancer.

Joan was born in Leeds, England in 1938 and married Frank (deceased) in 1959. She immigrated to Calgary with her mum and three children in 1976 and later worked for the law firm Walsh Wilkins for many years, retiring in 1999.

Her home at Westbourne Place was where she volunteered in The Shop and made many dear friends. She loved to knit and crochet, donating many items to help with fundraising for The United Way, as well as hundreds of unique baby blankets for The Foothills Hospital NICU and The MOM Project. She was a beautiful woman, mum, wife, sister, aunt, grandma and friend. Joan was loving, kind, strong, had a great sense of humour, and will be so dearly missed.

Joan is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike Dyson and Liliana Mesteru; two daughters and son-in-law, Julie Madill and Sue and Darcy Evans; grandson Justin Madill, sisters-in-law, Maureen Crawley and Margaret Crawley; nephews and niece, Martin, James, Rob (Andrea) Crawley, Andrew (Judith) Crawley, and Ellie Bromley; her best friend Dianah, as well as extended family and friends in Calgary, England and Australia. She was predeceased by her parents, Doris and John (Jack) Crawley, and her brothers, Derek (Des) Crawley and Ron Crawley.

Much love and appreciation go to the amazing staff at Dulcina Hospice, as well as the Home Care Team and the Palliative Home Care team who lovingly took care of Joan.
