Obituary of David Frederick HILLER

May 3, 1938 – Kitchener, Ontario January 5, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sorrow that the family of David Frederick Hiller beloved husband of Patricia Hiller (nee Hubbard) of Calgary, AB, announces his sudden passing on January 5, 2018 at the age of 79 years. David retired as Vice-President of National Trust, Calgary, in 1995 after a career in financial services that began with the Royal Bank in Stratford and spanned thirty-five years. David’s life truly defined the motto, ‘service above self’. A dedicated volunteer, David was active in non-profit organizations in every community he lived during the course of his career. David was a fifty year member of Rotary, belonging for the last thirty years to the Calgary Downtown Rotary Club. He was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow and dedicated seventeen years to editing the weekly COG newsletter. David will be remembered for his warmth and wit, and for his quiet bravery in the face of many health-related challenges. David leaves to mourn his loving wife of fifty-four years, Patricia, daughter Kathryn (Greg) MacHardy of Edmonton; son Mike (Pam); grandchildren, Cassie (Mitch) of Airdrie, Jessie, Elizabeth MacHardy of Edmonton, Thomas MacHardy of Edmonton; great-grandson Michael James Wiebe of Airdrie; brother Peter (Dianne) of Stratford; sister Audrey (Ross) Snider of Elmira; and many cousins and good friends. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
