Obituary of Doris Ann FORBES

July 13, 1943 – Hartford, Connecticut January 6, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Doris Forbes. She slipped suddenly away from us at her residence on January 6, 2018 at the age of 74 years. Doris Forbes was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut by her mother Alice Poliquin. She was the second youngest of seven sisters Arlene, Norma, Louise, Olive, Jackie and Pauline. She married Kermit Forbes Sr. on October 13, 1962. She had two children Kermit Jr. and Louise. They moved to Spokane Washington in 1969 and in 1974 they took their small family and all their possessions across the border to Calgary, AB. Her family expanded when Kermit Jr. married Mona (Labbe) and had three children, Shawn, Sheldon and Celeste. Her Daughter Louise married Greg Basaraba and had two children Jessica and Austin. Doris had great pride in her children, their spouses and her grandchildren; they were the love of her life. Family gathering was one of her greatest joys. Her second love was fishing and she was great at it. Campbell River, BC lost a great many salmon and cod fish to her line. Swan Lake, BC was another favourite fishing spot of hers. The trout never stood a chance. Doris touched the lives of all she met. She will be forever cherished, lovingly remembered and deeply missed. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Basaraba family residence. The family would like to thank all the aids and nursing staff at Swan Evergreen Village for their care and support of Doris over the last eight months.
