Obituary of Engelbert (Bert) DREHER

October 21, 1931 – Kendal, Saskatchewan
December 16, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our Dad Engelbert Dreher, husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the age of 89 years.

Bert started his career with SaskTel in Regina where he married his wife Frances Ehrmantraut in 1955. That same year they moved to Calgary where they settled and eventually raised five children. He continued his career with A.G.T. (now Telus) as an installer and had a successful career with many roles, including supervisor of his own crew known as “Bert’s prewire crew”, who everyone wanted to work for. He retired in 1986.

Bert and Frances belonged to St. Cecilia’s Church and were one of the first members of the Parish. They enjoyed volunteering together and he was also a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them especially his grandchildren.

Bert will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Frances of sixty-five years, their five children, Dennis, Derek, Darlene, Debbie (Ben) and Darryl (Carrie); six grandchildren, Ashley, Crystal, Haylee, Zachary, Mackenzie and Shelby; three great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Lily and Ariah; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother Regina (Neiz), father Joseph; and his siblings, Mike, George, John, Doreen, Leo and Jim.

Due to Covid a Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., with a Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
