Obituary of Katalin FONNYADT

December 17, 1934 – Budapest, Hungary

December 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Katalin Fonnyadt, beloved wife of Steve Fonnyadt, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 86 years.

Katalin was born in Budapest, Hungary on December 17, 1934.

Katalin worked in a factory from a young age in order to help support her family. She had three sisters and two brothers. She married Steve Fonnyadt on March 30, 1956 and shortly after they left Hungary during the revolution and immigrated to Calgary, Canada.

Katalin enjoyed sewing, crochet, knitting, reading, gardening, baking and cooking. She was well known for her delicious cooking. She often cooked for family and friends. She always made sure they left with a full stomach. They travelled to Mexico frequently over the years. Katalin was an avid gardener. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and planted many different flowers. Her favorites were her roses. She worked in the family business along side her husband, two sons and two grandsons.

She will be remembered for the love of her family. She was always at her happiest when she had her family around her, a cup of coffee and conversation.

Besides her loving husband, Katalin is survived by her sons, Steve Jr. and his wife Stella of Cochrane, Robert and his wife Rhonda and their two sons, Robert Jr. and Reilly of Cochrane; her sister Tobi of Opalyi, Hungary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
