Condolences
So sorry to hear of Dougs passing. He was a huge part of my life when I worked for him. The greatest employer ever!

We were Doug and Doreen's neighbours when they first retired to Courtenay. They were so energetic and happy. As first-time home owners with a toddler, we were clueless. Doug was so kind when he took the lead in our joint repair of shared fence panels that had blown over. He took great pride in his greenhouse full of tomatoes. He saved the day with his "special cream" when our son tried to pick up a bee and got stung. Doreen had such a big smile on her face when they came back with from vacation with a present, a dump truck, for our son. They were absolutely wonderful people.
Doug & Doreen were great members of our Probus group and we remember them fondly when they were so welcoming when we joined the club nearly 16 years ago. Doug had a wonderful sense of humour and could always come up with an amusing tale.
RIP Doug.

Sorry to hear re Doug’s passing..he will certainly be missed here in Courtenay and in our Probus Club, where he served as President about 5 years ago..he will be missed on our hikes and in our meetings. His dry humour and quick wit served him well.
All the best to his family.

Our condolences to Doug's family.
We remember many pleasant times hiking and walking with he and Aksel with the Orca Probus group, as well as some fun dinners with the Probus 'dinearound' group.
Regards, Joan and Don Bertram
So sorry to hear of Doug's death. He and Doreen were good friends with whom we walked in the hiking group, many times. Doug was always full of fun and often plotting some little adventure..He showed us many walks and we still call them Doug's paths..We miss him but are glad he was near his family for his later days.
