Florence CUSITAR

Obituary of Florence Evelyn CUSITAR

December 21, 1933 – Camrose, Alberta

January 4, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

“There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved.”

Florence Cusitar passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Chinook Hospice Center in Calgary, AB.

Florence was born in Camrose, AB to Frank and Gertrude Cusitar.  She married twice (John Cusitar, Robert Wingfield), and eventually moved with her second husband to the United States where she lived for many years, splitting her time between Calgary and Seattle until 2020 when ill health prevented further travel.

Florence was a voracious reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast- indeed the NYT Sunday crossword rarely defeated her. Over the years, she lived and travelled extensively through the United States, visited Mexico several times, and toured the Canadian provinces from coast to coast. Her most recent trips included Ireland and Newfoundland.

Florence is survived by her beloved partner of over thirty years, Gary Morefield of Seattle, WA, her loving daughters, Brenda Fuentes (Greg Wright) and Donna McNerney (Michael); her loving four grandchildren, Justin Fuentes (Kris), Tim McNerney (Christine), Jon McNerney (Taylor), and Tom McNerney (Karen); as well as her seven great-grandchildren.

Much to the great sadness of her family and her many friends in Canada and the United States, there will be no gathering or service to honour Florence’s life, but her beauty and style, warm personality, generosity of spirit, and her kindness and friendship will be remembered and celebrated by all of those who knew and loved her. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Florence’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Florence Cusitar, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
