Obituary of Anthony Michael LEE

June 25, 1937 – Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, England December 18, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tony Lee on Monday December 18, 2017 at the age of 80 years. He was surrounded by his devoted family. Tony was born June 25, 1937 to Bridget and Edwin Lee in Hebburn, he was the eldest of three children Bridget and Stephen. He was a talented soccer player and as a young man was an accomplished ballroom dancer. It was at one of these dances that he met our Mom. He enjoyed golf and was the smartest person we knew, he was a vault of information. Tony and Evelyn married and immigrated to Canada in 1961. It was a long journey on the Queen Mary and they arrived with $50 in their pockets. They settled in Calgary and it was here that they called home and proudly became Canadian Citizens. Tony was a quiet man, a man of integrity and with a heart of gold. Generous and fair he would gladly give you the shirt off his back. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, ‘Granan’ and friend. Tony was a draftsman by trade and worked along side some of the best. He worked hard to provide for his family. Growing up during the war was difficult, but laid the foundation of a strong work ethic, as well as not taking anything for granted. Tony and Evelyn enjoyed travelling extensively in their retirement years. They both enjoyed the simple pleasures of family and friends. Tony was stoic and strong during the last couple of years after the death of the love of his life Evelyn. He made the choice to live and he did so with grace, never complaining just moving forward. He loved celebrating the milestones of his family and a good home cooked meal. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Veronica (Garry) McCulloch and Michelle Lee (Randy Van Brunt) Along with his ‘Treasures’ Sydney Lee, Sean and Conor McCulloch. His brother-in-law Albert Porter and extended family in England whom he loved dearly. Tony was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years Evelyn in 2015, his parents and both of his siblings. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.
