Obituary of Alfred (Scotty) Lee LANGILLE

November 16, 1932 – Nordegg, Alberta
January 11, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scotty Langille, beloved husband of Elaine Langille (nee Fowers) on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

Scotty was a member of the Canadian Air Force for twenty-six years and then a City of Calgary Transit driver for eighteen years.  Upon retirement, Scotty enjoyed daily walks with Elaine and their dogs, his weekly 6:00 a.m. golf time with his golf crew, curling and playing crib with Elaine and their friends, and playing cards and watching hockey with his family.

Scotty and Elaine were married for sixty-four years.  Scotty was a dedicated family man who was particularly proud of his family.  He surrounded them with unconditional love and support.  His children fondly remember their childhood.  Scotty and Allan shared a love of golf, ball, skating and skiing; Scotty and Cheryl a love for curling; and Scotty and Susan the love for Sunday drives, bowling, skating and skiing.  In later years when he became a grandparent, Scotty was just as involved and was always there to support and cheer on Amber, Devin and Faryn. As a great-grandparent, he loved fishing and playing crib with Aiden and watching Presleigh, Noah and Brynlee grow from babes to the toddlers they now are.  Scotty lived life simply - he was an “old-school” gentleman, kind and gentle.  Scotty will be remembered for his selflessness, happy-go-lucky personality, smile, whistling, twinkly eyes, and his love of sports, animals and nature.

Besides the love of his life Elaine, Scotty is survived by his daughter Susan (Shawn) and son Allan; three grandchildren, Amber (Jeff), Devin, Faryn (Adam); four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Presleigh, Noah and Brynlee.

Scotty is also survived by his brother Herbert and his two sisters, Dorothy and Florence; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Scotty was predeceased by his parents, Young and Eva and his daughter Cheryl.

We would like to thank Drs. Bell and Stone and each of their staff for years of dedicated care and friendship as well as Drs. Kolman, Slawnych and Rachelle of the Cardiac Function Clinic at South Health Campus.
