It is with great sadness that the family and Tsuut’ina Nation Chief and Minor Chiefs announce the sudden passing of respected and beloved Mīts’úzàk’ā gúdīk’ààz-ná (Minor Chief) Vincent Kerry Crowchild (Tuyik’a Yiyali - Runs Under Water) on Monday, January 11, 2021.

Vincent was born April 21, 1962 to Irene Crowchild and Alfred Spreacker in Calgary, Alberta. He was raised by Charles and Josephine Crowchild. Vincent spent his life working with and for the people of Tsuut’ina Nation. He was extremely proud of who he was and all the accomplishments he was part of and saw over the years he served Tsuut’ina Nation. Vincent first began working in Public Works as Tsuut’ina’s one and only journeyman plumber before becoming a member of Tsuut’ina Nation Minor Chiefs in 2002 until his passing.

Vincent was known as an all-round guy. He was a hunter, cowboy, rancher and Minor Chief, but his most important role was husband, father and papa. His grandchildren were the light of his life.  Vincent married Roxanne Whitney in 1995 and they share seven children they raised together, with 26 grandchildren to spoil.

Vincent is survived by the love of his life, Roxanne, their children, Dwayne (Patriece), Charity (Preston), Vinnie Jr., Robin (Tasha), Raven (Graham), Rhonda (Jan) and Rita; 11 granddaughters and 15 grandsons; his parents, Josephine and Charles; special parents, Xakiji Clifford and Vanora; siblings, Xakiji Sandford (Brenda), Chris, Bobbie (Vic), Tracy, Paul (Juanita), Michelle (Dave), Jason (Inez), Jeanne (Nelson), June (Pat), Faith, and Tonya (Glen); sister-in-law Reni; brothers-in-law, Trooper and Ryan; Aunty Frances (Helmut), uncles, Alex, Neil (Patricia), and Patrick; and mother of his eldest children Annlynn; past and present Chief and Minor Chiefs, and all of Tsuut’ina Nation.

Vincent is predeceased by his parents, Irene and Alfred; mother and father-in-law, Susan and Loyal; grandparents, Edith and Isaac; aunties, Peggy, Rita and Jacqueline; uncles, Bradley, Allen, Emerson, Elliot and Steven Runner; and his hockey sons, Cash, Theo, Frank, Richard and Austin.

Wake Services will be held at Tsuut’ina Nation, at Vincent and Roxanne’s Residence (996 Six Mile Coulee Road) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 and Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held at Chief Jim Starlight Field House (Tsuut’ina Nation, AB) on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuut’ina Cemetery (Tsuut’ina Nation, AB).
