Obituary of Gabriela POP

July 26, 1973 – Oradea, Romania
January 13, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Gabriela Pop beloved wife of Mitri, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the age of 47 years.

Gabriela was born in Nagy-Várad, Bihor, Romania on July 26, 1973.

She immigrated to Calgary, AB, Canada to join her father in 1991 and attended Forest Lawn High school, which she graduated from and then went on to take Accounting and Continuous learning from SAIT.

She worked as a PVR Adminstrator - Production Analyst for Harvest Operations in Calgary until she was unable to, due to illness. She enjoyed dancing, hiking, car adventures, picnics, squash, and entertaining friends and family whenever possible. 

Gabriela married Mitri January 16, 2016. He was the love of her life.

Gabriela had a great passion for travelling as much as possible and travelled around Europe, Mexico, Jamaica, as well as explored British Columbia at great length. A trip was always on her agenda and a solution for everything and anything.

Gabriela was involved in her church and managed the bookkeeping for many years.

Gabriela’s favourite sayings were,“ just relax”, and “who are we to judge”.

She will be most remembered for being a daughter, a wife, a sister, a friend, a confidante and an aunt. She lived out loud with positivity and wanted to help as much as she could. She was always inviting people over to join her for every event, season or holiday. She was kind, generous and funny as hell. 

Besides her loving husband Mitri, Gabriela is survived by her father, Gabor, her sister Antal Sarkady Timea Andrea, her brother-in-law Béla Antal,  her nephew Adam of Oradea, Romania and her beloved dog Romeo. Gabriela was predeceased by her Mother, Sarkady Livia.

Funeral Services for only a few mourners due to legal restrictions will be held at Christ Church (Hwy 549 East, Millarville, AB) on Sunday January 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Christ Church Anglican Cemetery (Millarville Cemetary).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Gabriela’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
