Obituary of Nabil (Bill) Mahfouz REZK

June 21, 1936 – Cairo, Egypt
January 15, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Nabil Mahfouz Rezk on Friday, January 15, 2021.

Nabil was born in Cairo, Egypt. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Cairo University, Egypt.  Upon immigrating to Canada in 1968, he earned his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, and then moved to Calgary where he started his professional career.

Nabil has been in Calgary ever since, practicing as a Professional Civil Engineer in the Oil and Gas Industry and raising his family. Nabil has always been a strong advocate of community and faith. These characteristics will remain his legacy.

Nabil will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature, sense of humor, love of the Culinary Arts, his generosity and his perseverance in all of life’s challenges.

Nabil is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years Hind F Rezk, his son and daughter-in-law, Claude N Rezk and Marianne Mikhail; his grandchildren, Daniella and Joshua; his sister and brother-in-law, Nadia and Tony Anton; and his niece and her husband, Dr. Natalie Anton and Dr. Paul Byrne.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church (292120 Wagon Wheel Blvd., Rockyview County, AB) on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. The visitation on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 is open to all; again, all the current Alberta Government health protocols must be followed.
