Obituary of Casimer Stanley HYCIEK

September 17, 1926 - Jordanow, Poland
January 17, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Casimer Hyciek, born September 17, 1926, in Jordanow, Poland, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Sunday, January 17, 2021, surrounded by family.

In September 1950, Casimer married the love of his life, Evelyn Tomik, and went on to raise five beautiful children, Stan (Gail) Hyciek, Karren (Dennis) Holinski, Tim Hyciek, Cheryl (John) Clement, and Dave (Barb) Hyciek; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Casimer immigrated to Canada as a young boy with members of his family and matured to become a successful entrepreneur in Alberta.   He owned auto repair enterprises, parking companies throughout North America, rental franchises, real estate holdings and held sports ownerships, including interests in the Calgary Flames, and served as a Board member in the Flames organization. Cas was instrumental in bringing the Calgary Flames to Calgary.

Casimer was well-known for possessing the latest premium Ford vehicles. He entertained family and guests at his summer cottage at Mara Lake that included delicious barbeques or chasing the elusive trout. He even attempted west coast salmon fishing with much success. In addition to his outdoor activities, Cas loved to dance and only black patent leather loafers, of course, would be purchased to enable him to glide with ease across the dance floor.

Casimer is predeceased by his wife Evelyn, sisters, Jean and Sophie; and his brothers, Walter and Frank.

A private family Funeral Mass will be celebrated and Casimer will be laid to rest at Queen's Park Cemetery.  If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd.
