Obituary of Manuel  VICENCIO

November 26, 1946 – Dampalit, Philippines
January 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Manuel Vicencio, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at the age of 74, after a nearly four-year struggle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Manuel was born in Dampalit, Malabon, Philippines on November 26, 1946. In keeping with his loving and generous character, he came to Canada to help provide for his family in the Philippines. He settled in Calgary, where he met and married Alma Sampang and had one daughter, Melissa. After many years of service, Manuel retired from Canadian Pacific Railway and spent his time enjoying the company of his loved ones, gardening, and birdwatching.

He will always be remembered for his gentle, quiet, and sensitive nature as well as his deep generosity. He was always happy to lend a helping hand. His love for his family was unwavering, and he worked hard to give them a good life. Even though his lung disease took a toll on his body, his spirit remained strong and he was determined to enjoy life as much as possible.

Left to mourn are Manuel’s daughter Melissa (Will Tigley), sisters, Erlinda Zuk, Annie Bantug, and Charry Arkoncel; brothers, Roberto Vicencio and Terry Vicencio; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended Sampang family and friends. Manuel was predeceased by his wife Alma, parents, Mateo and Magdalena; brother Jaime, and brothers-in-law, Brian Zuk, Alex Bantug, and Romy Arkoncel.
