Obituary of Bruce Issac SAUNDERS

November 3, 1920 – Calgary, Alberta
January 21, 2021 – Okotoks, Alberta

Bruce Saunders passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at the age of 100 years. 

He served for five years in WWII with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was stationed in Scotland where he excelled working on aircraft electrical components, leading him later to a thirty year career in the telecommunications industry; as well as a long-time member of the Telecom Pioneers of Canada.

A lifelong avid reader, Bruce loved his Western and Thriller novels and enjoyed a few favored hobbies including curling, bridge, golf, and frequent trips to Palm Springs. Bruce will be fondly remembered for his resilience, kindness, and good-humored nature, and always loved and admired for his integrity and loyalty.

Bruce is survived by and will be dearly missed by his fraternal twins; daughter Vicky Steele, and son Keith (Nancy) Saunders; daughter-in-law Lylian; and beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) and sons, Tyson, and Taylor; Kelly (Dave) and sons, Jaxson, Lincoln and third child expected in July; Lindsay (Jerod) and son Mason, and daughter Breanna; Joshua; and Rachel (Tom) and daughter Emily and second child expected in April. Bruce lived an exceptional and fulfilling life that was full of love with his close family.

Bruce was predeceased by his wife and love of his life for sixty-four years, Bernice Eileen Saunders (nee Purser) in 2010; and late son Doug Saunders in 2014
