Obituary of Valerie Susan HOLMES

February 1, 1952 – Regina, Saskatchewan
January 29, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that the Holmes Family announces the peaceful passing of Valerie Holmes on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Rockyview General hospital, at the age of 68 years after a brief battle with cancer.
 
Valerie was born February 1, 1952 in Regina, SK. She was a kind, loving, wise, fun and honest woman to all who knew her and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

Valerie was an active member of the Good Shepherd Community Church for many years. This included the position of financial treasurer, and later helped with the Church Food Bank. Valerie was an avid ten year member of the Dots & Dashers Square Dance Club and she volunteered with Caring Hands and No One Dies Alone (NODA).

Valerie is survived by her daughter Veronica Holmes (Dwight), son William Holmes, stepdaughter Debbie Holmes-Van Tornhout (Kirk) and grandson Zachery Nesbitt. She is also survived by her brother David (Dian) Jenner, sister Betty (Al) Paananen, sister-in-law Louanne Jenner; and close friends, Kathy Hearn, Sharon Bauer and Pat Nilsson.

Valerie was predeceased by her husband Bob Holmes, her mother and father, Gladys and Jim Jenner, her first husband Bill Holmes, brother Gordon Jenner and her stepdaughter, Kathy Holmes.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, the family will plan a Celebration of Life at Good Shepherd Community Church, 6311 Norfolk Drive NW when it is possible to gather. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Valerie’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
