March 2, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ivan Stopic of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 surrounded by family at the age of 80 years.

Ivan immigrated with his family to Calgary in January of 1993 and worked as machinist until his retirement. During retirement, Ivan spent time with his grandkids and traveling abroad with his wife Ruzica on their many travels back home.

He was passionate about sports with boxing and soccer being his favorite. He also coached several soccer teams.

Ivan dedicated his life to better his family, his children and grandchildren that he loved dearly.

Always with a positive outlook on life, he remained active up until his recent illness. Ivan was the happiest when working in the garden, building things with his hands. He was a devoted Catholic and valued member of Our Lady Marija Bistrica Croatian Roman Catholic Church.

Ivan’s wisdom and calm presence when telling his life stories were always welcomed by all. He was the rock of the family and took pride in raising his kids and grandkids to be decent and caring people. He lived his life to the fullest. His passing will leave a deep void in so many lives.

Ivan will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Ruzica of fifty three years; their children, Slavko (Kata), Slavica (Boro), Josip (Josipa), and Pero (Dijana); his grandchildren, Ivana, Slaven, Josip, Mario, Marina, Gabrielle, Roko, Matteo, Ivan, and Noa; his brother Petar; sister Ruzica; and his extended family and friends in Canada, Croatia and Bosnia.

A Private Family Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Marija Bistrica Croatian Roman Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive S.E., Calgary, AB). Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Ivan’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
