Obituary of Albert Roy SILLIKER

April 6, 1939 – Calgary, Alberta
April 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that the Silliker family announces the passing of Albert R. Silliker at the South Health Campus, on Friday, April 9, 2021 just three days after his 82nd birthday.

Born April 6th, 1939 to Albert E. Silliker and Agnes Bruner of Calgary, AB. Albert was the oldest of the Silliker children. He adored his sisters, Alberta, Madeleine and Evelyn and shared many laughs with his younger brother Franklin.

In his childhood, Albert grew up in the community of Mt.Royal. He attended school at Western Canada High School and later continued his Education at SAIT, where he became an Electrician by trade. At graduation he was employed by The Calgary Board of Education where he worked until his retirement to the family acreage. His employment also allowed him to meet his wife of fifty-three years, Millicent. He said that was his best day at work!

Albert had a passion for anything mechanical and could fix, improvise or design a solution to any problem he encountered. His ingenuity and creativity was second to none. He had a passion for muscle cars and rebuilt many engines and vehicles in his spare time. He enjoyed many hours supporting his children and the community in Lake Bonavista coaching hockey, soccer and scouting.

Albert had a special relationship with many and was always happy to chat or share a joke. His most special time was with his granddaughter McKinley who really held the key to his heart.

Albert is survived by his Wife Millicent Silliker and their two children, Jodi (Tyler) Nordquist and Jarrett (Tara-Mae) Silliker; his granddaughter McKinley Nordquist, brother Franklin (Linda) Silliker; and two sisters, Alberta (Dave) Shores and Madeleine (Jim) Ingram, brother-in-law Terry Mogck (Isabelle) of Oakville, ON; and his many nieces and nephews in Calgary; as well as his neice and great-niece in Ontario. Albert was predeceased by his sister Evelyn Dancey.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Albert’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
