Arnold Nelson Carswell, 74, of Calgary, AB, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2021 after a lifelong battle with various health problems.

Arnold was born in Regina, SK to Ernie and June Carswell, Arnold was the oldest child of six. Arnold was a dedicated teacher, and fiercely devoted to his family. After he graduated from college in Lethbridge, Arnold moved his family to Calgary in 1974 to work as a service technician for Ferguson Supply. After many great years at FS, Arnold became an instructor at SAIT, where he taught hydraulics and heavy duty mechanics until his retirement in 2013. He also traveled to other Polytechnic schools around Canada and the US to teach courses. Arnold took great pride in the success of his many students. He held certificates of achievement in many fields of work. He never stopped learning and trying to do better for his family.

In 1966, Arnold met his wife, Jobie and went on to have three children, Charles (Kristine), Wanda Fisher, and Jody (Betina). He also had three granddaughters, Sammy (Will) Ducharme, Stephanie Fisher, and Mya Carswell. Arnold was a very proud father and even more proud of his three grandchildren. His family was the most important part of his life. Arnold was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family, and his humorous nature was a core piece of his personality. Arnold was also an avid outdoorsman, spending free time horseback riding, fishing, and helping to coach and umpire his sons’ baseball teams. He spent most of his retirement with his family, camping in his motor home in the back country where motor homes normally could not go, as well as walking his loyal dog, and tinkering in his garage.

He leaves behind wife Jobie, children, Charles, Wanda, and Jody; daughters-in-law, Kristine and Betina; grandchildren, Sammy, Will, Stephanie, and Mya; and siblings, Donna, Robert, Lil, and Buster. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Ernie and June Carswell, and his brother Eddie.
