Obituary of Darren REID

January 22, 1963 – Corner Brook, Newfoundland

April 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Darren Reid, beloved husband of Avis Perry of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the age of 58 years.

Darren was born in Corner Brook, NL on January 22, 1963.

He moved to Calgary, AB, Canada in 1982 and he married Avis Perry in 1984.

Darren accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his family and the long-lasting friendships he held. He loved to tinker and could be found at any hour of the day fiddling, fixing and saying a few chosen words in his garage as he worked on things while listening to classic rock.

Darren’s most memorable moments were of family gatherings and the time he spent at work. His favorite vacations were camping trips with family and trips back home to Newfoundland, where he dreamed of retirement.

Darren’s favourite sayings were ‘Cash is king” and “Some shocking good!”  and some four-letter words that can’t be listed here, although those that knew him can easily guess what they were!

He will be most remembered for his generosity. He would give his time and energy to anyone who needed it, no questions asked.

Besides his loving wife Avis, Darren is survived by his one daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Scott of Calgary, AB; one son and his partner, MacKenzie and Kayliegh of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Aubrie, Rhea, McKinley and Paisley all of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his one brother and one sister-in-law, Derek and Lorraine of Calgary, AB; two sisters, Diana of Langdon, AB and Rowena of Springfield, Tennessee; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Darren was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Munden, and his sister Daphne.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April, 17, 2021 at 10:30a.m. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
