Obituary of Bertram Dale Victor FIZZELL

January 18, 1941 - Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

April 10, 2021 – Airdrie, Alberta

Bert Fizzell, beloved husband of Donna Fizzell (nee Craig), of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the age of 80 years.

Bert grew up and attended Tech high school in Saskatoon, SK where he met his future wife Donna and they married October 7, 1961.

Bert being a talented athlete with a passion for hockey,  was recruited to Junior Quakers 1958-60 then turned Pro with WHL for Victoria Cougars in 1960-61, WHL Calgary Stampeders 1961-63, Eastern CPHL Syra-cuse/St. Louis Braves 1962-64, IHL Port Huron Flags 1964-66, Columbus Checkers 1966-70, AHL Providence Reds 1969-71, IHL Des Moines Oak Leafs 1970-71. Bert retired from hockey 1971 but remained active playing for old-timers leagues in Edmonton.

After retirement he moved his family to Spruce Grove, AB. and then St. Albert AB. where he built a home for his family and started selling new homes. He was recognized frequently for excellence in sales and received high praises from customers. This was his highest re-ward. He ended his career in Calgary with NuVisa homes in 2013.

For 59 years Donna and Bert have enjoyed living and traveling across USA and Canada; first with the family and then in retirement.

He was a caring and kind hearted father, husband and grandfather. He always had time to listen and talk about the important things that life brings and plans made. Bert loved the outdoors and loved to work and sit in the garden. We will cherish these memories and he will be in our loving hearts forever.

Besides his loving wife Donna, Bert is survived by his children Tracy, (Doolin) Fizzell of Calgary, AB, and Shona Fizzell of Airdrie, AB; his  sisters Rita Hazelhurst of Edmonton, AB, Shirley (Dave) Olson of Spruce Grove, AB, Evelyne (Stan) Bergen of Winnipeg, MB, Richard and (Judy) Fizzell Airdrie, AB; and his  grandchildren Tristan Fizzell of Toronto, ON and Sonya Fizzell of Vancouver, BC. Bert was predeceased by his brothers Bob, Leonard; and  his sisters Lila, Lola and Sharon.
