Obituary of Erin LAFRANCE

October 8, 1980 - Ottawa, Ontario
April 27, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Erin Angela Lafrance on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the age of 40 years. Erin, beloved wife of Darryl Belton, passed away surrounded by her loving family.

Erin was born in Ottawa, ON on October 8, 1980. In her younger years, Erin moved with the family between Winnipeg and Ottawa before relocating to Calgary in 1994 and settling there. Erin grew up in Calgary, graduating from Lord Beaverbrook High School in 1998. Erin was always passionate about education and studied Social Work at Mount Royal University, completing her diploma and then moving on to the University of Calgary where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 2008. Following her education, Erin travelled to the United Kingdom, where she worked and travelled to many countries. After two years, Erin returned home to Calgary. Erin was most recently employed at Bow Valley College, where she made many friends and was affectionately referred to as the “VP of fun”, as she loved to organize social events for her team. She truly enjoyed working at Bow Valley College and cared deeply about her job. Erin eventually completed her Human Resources Professional Certification.

Erin met her soul mate and the love of her life, Darryl Belton in 2008. After dating for a few years, travelling and sharing many adventures together, they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Adele, into the world on March 24, 2012. Becoming a mother gave Erin a new sense of purpose and brought so much happiness to her life. In 2014, Erin and Darryl got married on a beautiful September day in Whitefish, Montana and shortly thereafter in 2015, their son Colson was born, and their family was complete. Erin’s biggest success and proudest joys in life were her children and her wonderful husband Darryl. She was a loving daughter, caring sister, cool Auntie and a loyal friend.

Erin was loyal and honest and had a charming ability to leave a lasting impression on everyone she met.  She surrounded herself with amazing friends that walked with her through life and provided her much comfort and happiness, especially over the past year. She was confident and outgoing and could make anyone her best friend. She pursued her own passions, which included her work, getting to the mountains to ski, hike or bike, travelling, music, and enjoying the outdoors camping with her family.

Erin is survived by her husband Darryl, two children, Adele and Colson; parents, Linda and Ray; sisters, Lisa (Adam) and Carly (Justin); her nieces and nephews and her mother-in-law Thelma. Also, we can’t forget her dog Tucker. Erin will be missed by many extended family members, aunts, uncles, and cousins (Ottawa family).

A life so beautifully lived.  We will forever miss you Erin and will carry her memory in our hearts always.

A memorial celebrating Erin’s life will be held at a later date. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mrs.  Lafrance’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
