Obituary of Kenneth John Michael GREIG

March 26, 1930 – Bengough, Saskatchewan
May 5, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ken Greig, beloved husband of Audrey Greig (Anderson) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Ken was born in Bengough, Saskatchewan on March 26, 1930. He spent his early years working on the farm. He loved all animals, horses, birds and especially dogs. He dis-liked magpies and starlings, always chasing them out of his yard. Moving on to Calgary where he worked for Gallelli/Conmac/Lafarge for 24 years as a concrete laborer and placing/finishing foreman. He then moved on to work for the CBE until he retired at the age of 65.

Ken loved to play cards and crib. Ken loved to joke around; he had a gift of making people laugh. He always had time to tell a joke or two. Anyone and everyone that met him, loved him. He enjoyed nature, gardening and planting potatoes. He loved supervising his kids at home projects, he would show up daily just to see how everything was progressing. He loved family group camp outings, family dinners and Christmas, where his entire family was there to celebrate with him, at which time he would then usually start yodelling because he was so happy. 91 years of memories put into a simple paragraph does not justify who Ken was, he was a husband, a dad, a grandpa and a great-grandpa, an uncle, a friend. He was a Legend.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years Audrey, along with his children, Rosalie Tillings (John Kowch), John Greig, Fred Greig (Linda Greig), Heather Day (Rod Day), Marlene Lalonde (Roch Lalonde), Jim Greig (Lori Greig), Ernie Greig (Sally Greig). Ken has fourteen grandchildren KJ, Ryan, Amanda, Kayla, Curtis, Callan, Travis, Billy, Jessica, Kody, Sarah, Leah, Rebecca and Alexander. Ken also has thirteen great-grandchildren Kiara, Marlee, Braiden, Ryley, Emma, Adam, Ella, Emma, Kiptyn, Kamden, Emmett, Ariella, Cynthia and James. Ken will be remembered by his sister Maxine Wray, as well as his sister-in-law Vera Holden (Greg Holden), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by his parents John & Leila Greig along with his four sisters Louise (Potter), Wilma (Stewart), Shirlly (Forsyth), Kathleen (Ortmann). Also predeceased by his granddaughter Cassandra (Lalonde), grandson Corey (Tillings), daughter-in-law Sylvia (Greig), brother-in-Law James (Anderson), brother-in-law Robert (Wray), brother-in-law Butch (Forsyth), mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marion & Herbert Fox. 

Ken was predeceased by his parents John & Leila Greig along with his four sisters Louise (Potter), Wilma (Stewart), Shirlly (Forsyth), Kathleen (Ortmann). Also predeceased by his granddaughter Cassandra (Lalonde), grandson Corey (Tillings), daughter-in-law Sylvia (Greig), brother-in-law James (Anderson), brother-in-law Robert (Wray), brother-in-law Butch (Forsyth).
