Dolly O'BRIEN (nee Thiessen)

Obituary of Dolly O'BRIEN (nee Thiessen)

August 8, 1940 – Gladstone, Manitoba
May 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Agatha “Dolly” O’Brien (nee Thiessen), wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend passed away surrounded by love at St. Marguerite Manor on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

Dolly went straight to heaven, joining her husband, Patrick. She was born on August 8, 1940 in Gladstone, MB and became one of fourteen children. Even though times were hard, there was always lots of love, laughter, and just a little bit of mischief. When she married Patrick, she joined the O’Brien clan and gained the love of many more siblings whom she treasured until the day she died.

She leaves behind her two sons, Ken (Stephanie) and Terry (Christene); and daughter Charlotte, as well as her ultimate joy in life, her beautiful grandchildren, MacKenzie, Kaleb, Brice, Nicholas, and Russell.

She will always be remembered for her delicious meals that cannot be replicated, a special seat at the table if you showed up at her door, never saying an unkind word about anything to anybody, her quiet strength, generosity, and for all of her loving kindness while asking for nothing in return. We lost a centerpiece of our family which cannot be replaced and will always be lovingly remembered, cherished, and deeply missed.

Words will never be able to express our undying gratitude to the staff of St. Margarette manor, who became a part of our family and loved mom as one of their own.

Due to COVID restrictions, a Private Inurnment will be held, with a  Celebration of Dolly’s Life to be held once restrictions are lifted. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Dolly’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Dolly O’Brien, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
