Obituary of Claire AUCLAIR (nee Stengel)

October 24, 1922 - Millet, Alberta
May 14, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Claire Auclair of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the age of 98 years.

Claire was the daughter of Fred and Karolina Stengel. She was born in a small farmhouse near Wetaskiwin, AB, the seventh of twelve children, of which three remain (Art, Margaret and Evy). Claire was a great-great Gandmother who lived to the amazing age of 98. During her early years, Claire ventured out to Edmonton, AB, Hamilton, ON, Watson Lake, YK and Malartic, QC. It is here that she met Raymond Auclair, from Cap-de-Madeline, QC, her soon to be husband. Once married in 1946, they lived in the mining towns of Wawa, ON and Elliott Lake, ON and then settled in Montreal, QC. Claire and Ray had three children, Rena, Phil and Glenn. Claire was a wonderful homemaker and inspirational to all. Her personality was colourful, determined, caring and friendly. She was deeply loved by her children, the four grand children, Brett (passed), Jonathan, Matthieu, Natalie; and the numerous great-grand children.

In the 80's, Claire regained her independence and ultimately returned to her roots in Alberta and proximity to her remaining siblings. In the later years, she made the best of her old age, deafness and near blindness. She lived her long life with dignity, commitment and values. Claire's deepest wish is that the family members remain close. We, her children, owe her everything and will miss her deeply.
