Maurice DAUVIN

Obituary of Maurice Arthur Floyd DAUVIN

March 20, 1947 – Antler, Saskatchewan

May 22, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Maurice Dauvin, beloved husband of Liliane Dauvin (nee Gagnon), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the age of 74 years.

Maurice graduated from school in Redvers, SK. Maurice started farming as a youth on his family’s farm in Southern Saskatchewan. He was an avid hunter and trapper in his youth and enjoyed cars and heavy equipment.

He met the love of his life Liliane, and headed west to Vancouver and they never made it! They stopped in Calgary and lived, worked and enjoyed life for the last 52 years and grew their family.

He spent over 50 years as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 955, and enjoyed his time working with heavy machinery. He owned his own equipment for a short time, but was happier running someone else's iron. The last years of his employment were spent at Blue Con Equipment and he truly enjoyed his time there and actually had a really hard time retiring, as they would not let him go! He felt it was an amazing company to work for.

Maurice accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his granddaughter, Brittany. Her wedding was one of the highlights of his life.

Maurice enjoyed camping, kayaking and family, family, family. One of his greatest joys was his wife, son, granddaughter and great grandchildren, spending quality time goofing around, fixing vehicles, barbeques, family gatherings and more. He loved spending each day visiting with Von and just chatting about everything and nothing!

Maurice enjoyed cool beers with Uncle Bob. He also enjoyed phone calls with his mom, sister, and brothers to keep up with the family news back home, as well as camping, fishing and kayaking anywhere he could! Family holidays such as Christmas were a really special time for him, as seeing the great-grandkids enjoy the magical moments was everything to him. You could always find him on the floor playing with all the kids, and sometimes would rather be with them then the adults!

2013 was an amazingly memorable year for Maurice. He was retired and was just beginning to enjoy the fruits of his labor - Hawaii with his sweetheart, and his granddaughter’s wedding, were one of the highlights of that year! Fairmont held a special place in his heart, as we as a family went on a trip there just recently. We swam, we ate, and had warm evenings with a fire pit and the ones he adored; all the things he loved.

What Maurice and Liliane strived for everyday was - One thing between two people that love each other, is that nothing is good for one that is not good for the other.

He will be most remembered for being a devoted husband, loving father, amazing grandfather and great-grandfather. He was such a gentleman, and was kind and generous to all!

Besides his loving wife Liliane, Maurice is survived by his son Von Gerard Henry Dauvin (Tammy Dauvin), grandchild Brittany Anne Abernethy (Justin Abernethy); and his two great-grandchildren, Briella Kathryn Anne Abernethy and Easton Michael Von Abernethy.

Maurice is also survived by his three brothers, George Dauvin (Holly Dauvin), Gerard Jr Dauvin (Janet Dauvin), and David Dauvin (Hope Dauvin) all of Redvers, SK; sister Jo-Anne Clark (Steven Clark) of Victoria BC; and mother Alfreda Dauvin of Redvers, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Maurice was predeceased by his father Gerard Dauvin of Redvers, SK.
