Obituary of John Henry ARGAN

May 8, 1957 – Regina, Saskatchewan
May 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Argan announces his sudden passing on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the age of 64 years, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Judi.

John was not only known for his Hawaiian shirts, bomber jackets and amazing sense of humour, but also for his kindness and generosity, infectious laugh, and his positive and joyful spirit. He had many accomplishments throughout his life including being an amazing father and husband. He led a life of happiness, and appreciated and valued every day. He always said that you had to have a few bad days to appreciate the good ones.  John’s memory will live on forever in our hearts, stories and in his children and grandchildren.

John was a talented Geologist and Exploration Manager.  He began his career at Saskoil where he made many lasting friendships and memories. When John moved to Calgary, he eventually continued his career at Canadian Natural Resources where he worked for twenty-five years. It was there that he continued to demonstrate commitment, integrity and strong work ethic, all which allowed him much success in his career. He frequently spoke about his passion for his career, and the enjoyment he derived from working and collaborating with his coworkers through the years. John also often spoke of happy memories of walking up and down the hallways of his office and connecting with his coworkers.  He felt extremely fortunate to have a career that provided him with a great amount of happiness and gratification.

John will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-three years, Judi Argan (Nee MacBean), and their children Logan (Mike), Bailey (Eric), and Michael (Michelle). John will also forever be remembered by his grandchildren, Oscar, Lillian, Evelyn, Scarlett, and Thomas.

John is also survived by his mother, Ethel, his brother, Jim (Brenda), and sister Leslee (Maurice); as well as his sister-in-laws, Sherri (Tim), Duna (Dale) and Syl; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was predeceased by his father, Mike, his mother-in-law, Shirl, and brother-in-law, Scott.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, September 5 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on John’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

John felt fortunate to leave his family and friends with some final parting words. This is what John had to say.

“Judi: I’ll always love you. No words can convey everything that you have done for me. You’ve always been there for me, especially at the end. I have never felt so loved.  All I have to say is I love you more.  Love John”

“Logan, Bailey and Mick: I’m so proud of all of you. One of your greatest strengths is that you are all unique in your own way.  I’ll always love you as individuals.  I know you’ll take care of each other and your mother. That’s the greatest gift that you could ever give to me. I’m passing without any worries. I’ll love you forever; I’ll love you for always. Dad.”

“Eric, Mike, Michelle: I couldn’t ask for anyone better to be a part of our family. I always knew my children would marry well. Thank you for caring for them. All my love. John”

“To my grandchildren: I know that you will know me through stories that your Nana and parents will tell you. My greatest sadness is that I won’t be able to know you. Know that I love you very much. Gido”

“To my mother: Strong families have strong roots. You taught us all so much: to think, work hard and mostly how to be gracious. Love John”

“To Leslee and Jim:  We spent most of our lives distant in age and geography but that did not diminish the caring we had for each other. Farewell my friends. Love always. John”

“To Judi’s family: I couldn’t imagine having better in-laws. You were always so supportive.  I love you all, but especially Bun.”

“To the staff of Unit 66, South Health Campus: My appreciation for all that you did for me. Most people can’t appreciate the harmony between technology, expertise and compassion that kept me alive for so long and allowed me to pass with dignity. It is the compassion you showed that my family will never forget.”

“To my friends, neighbours and colleagues: Thank you for all the good times. For as long as I have known each of you, you’ve made my life better. A guy can’t ask for anything more than that. Now that I am passing, I have such a great appreciation for all of the cards, well wishes and prayers. They truly make a difference. Carry on carrying on. Have a drink for me sometime. Love John”

“Thank you all”
