Obituary of Ruth Veronica AUSTIN (nee Lawrence)

February 26, 1930 – Fort Vermillion

May 31, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ruth Veronica Austin, beloved wife of the late Robert Austin, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Ruth was born in Fort Vermillion, Alberta, Canada on February 26, 1930 and moved to Calgary in 1969.

Ruth was married to Gunder Lein from 1950 until 1968, and then married Bob Austin in 1977.

She was a member of the Legion and volunteered with the Legion for numerous events including the Calgary Stampede, 50/50 draws, and meat draws. Ruth loved to dance and tend to her flowers on a daily basis. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest.

Ruth’s most memorable vacation was when she went to Hawaii. She will be most remembered for her energy and her smile.

Ruth is survived by four sons, Darrell, Larry (Maxine), Ozzie (Diana), and Robert; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
