Obituary of Rina MASTRONARDI (nee Nibbio)

July 8, 1933 – Belmonte del Sannio, Italy
June 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Rina Mastronardi, announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother, zia, nonna, and bisnonna on Tuesday June 1, 2021, at the age of 87 years. 

Rina was born in Belmonte del Sannio, Italy, on July 8, 1933 to Antonio and Emilia Nibbio. She married her husband and partner, Armando, on October 22, 1949, and immigrated to Canada on December 1, 1954. Together, Rina and Armando built a beautiful life in Calgary. Rina and Armando were entrepreneurs, business owners, and active members of their community. Rina was the proud owner and chef of “Rina’s Pizza” where she was fondly known as “Mama Rina” to the local families and students of the surrounding schools. Later, Rina and Armando went on to serve the Italian community as owners of Excelsior Meats and Imported Foods Ltd. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, vacationing with her family, as well as socializing and participating in activities with the Young Seniors Club at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Parish. She will be fondly remembered by her friends and fellow seniors. 

Rina will be deeply missed by her husband Armando, her daughters, Linda and Anna, and her nephew and niece-in-law Tony and Jo. She will also be missed by her grandchildren and extended family, Michael and Carmen, Nina, Andrew and Nicole, Rina and Kosta, Daniella, Adam, Amanda, and Anthony; and her great-grandchildren, Lily, Owen, Niko, and Harper.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
