Obituary of Ernest (Ernie) Harry CHAPEL


February 25, 1930 - Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba
June 3, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta     

Ernest Harry Chapel, beloved husband of Elfrieda Chapel (nee Doering) of Calgary, AB, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Ernie was a member of the Shepherd King Lutheran Church in Calgary. He was self-employed under the name of Arnieda Industries, and travelled on business throughout Alberta and the southwest parts of the United States.

Ernie married Elfrieda on November 14, 1970.

Ernie enjoyed scenic photography, golfing, and was an avid reader of politics and anything to do with World War II. He also had a keen interest in automobiles, boating and fishing. His most memorable vacation was to Victoria, BC.  He enjoyed watching the yachts and boats that cruised from the harbour to the sea and took endless photographs. He will be most remembered for his love of family, his intelligence, great sense of humor and the care and respect for others no matter who they were.

Ernie will be lovingly remembered by his wife Elfrieda (Freddie); his cousins, Carole (Len), Jeanne (Bill), and Ray (Mary); his brothers-in-law, Herbert (Pat),and Walter (Steffie); sisters-in-law, Betty, Elizabeth, Marilyn, and Joanne (Bruce). He is also survived by his nieces, Jacki (Louis), Raena, Brandi (Wade), Krystyne, Pamela (Dwayne) and Jacki (Stephan); nephews, Carl (Dawn), Bradley (Kryssy), Jason (Crystal), Wade , Craig, Grant (Bonnie), and Robert (Ann); as well as great-nephews, Jasper, Milo, Colin, Craig, Brenden (Nichole Christina), Kyle, Justin, Spencer, Brady, Conner, Kale, Hayden,  Ryder and Dreyzen; and great-nieces, Stella, Nikayla, Brittany (Brendon), Kelsie, Julie, Parker, Kyla, Ava, Aliana, Payton, Kora, and Eden; and great-great-nieces, Zoey, Blake and Brooke. 

Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Henry, brothers, Jerry and George, and sister Joan.
