Obituary of Elizabeth (Betty) Jane NICHOLL (nee Rolufs)

February 10, 1949 – Kipling, Saskatchewan

June 4, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Nicholl of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the age of 72 years.

Betty was born in Kipling, Saskatchewan.  Betty grew up on a farm near Corning, Saskatchewan.  In 1971 Betty married the love of her life Don Nicholl and a few years later moved to Alberta.  After Betty’s 3 children were old enough Betty started her own cleaning business while living in Brooks, AB, which she ran for many years. Later when they moved to Red Deer, Betty  worked in retail at Sears and loved working with her customers.  Betty retired to Calgary after the passing of her husband where she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, golfing, playing cards, watching curling and time in the garden.  Betty was much-loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Betty is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Trevor Nicholl (Shannon) of Sylvan Lake, AB, and Troy Nicholl (Sheina) of Whitecourt, AB; daughter and son-in-law, Tara Kern (Detlef) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Cassidy Meston of Calgary, AB, Brandon Kern of Calgary, AB, and Melissa Kern of Calgary AB.  She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd Rolufs (Marsha) of Kipling, SK.

Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Don Nicholl (December 9, 2007), her mother Maisie Rolufs; her father William Rolufs; sister Jeannette McEachen (Dale).

A Private Funeral Service will be held, on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mrs. Nicholl’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
