Obituary of Leonard Marian “Leszek” KRAUZE

May 10, 1947 – Szczecin, Poland

June 6, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Leonard Krauze at the age of 74 years on the afternoon of Sunday, June 6, 2021 at South Health Campus in Calgary.

Leonard was born in Szczecin, Poland on May 10, 1947 and spent his adolescent years in Gdansk. He graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Gdansk, and worked on the national railways. With his family’s future in mind and to offer his children better life opportunities, Leonard immigrated to Canada in 1982. He was later joined by his wife Krystyna, sons, Artur and Peter; and stepdaughter Dorota. In Canada, he worked as a quality controller in the oil and gas sector. Leonard was also an avid hunter and fisherman. In his later years, Leonard, along with his wife, enjoyed travelling around the United States, Europe, Chile and various hotspots in the Caribbean.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Krystyna, three children, Artur (Olga), Peter (Andra) and Dorota (Mario); and four grandchildren, Victoria, Igor, Steliana and Maximiliano.

Leonard is also survived by his younger sister Halina, brother-in-law Dionizy, and nephews Tomasz (Ewa) and Marek (Natalia).

A Private Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mr. Krauze’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
