Stanley HERRON

Obituary of Stanley Dean HERRON

November 4, 1957 – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma September 23, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stan Herron, son of Jane Richards of Mesa, Arizona and Ralph Herron of Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 59 years, in Calgary, Alberta. In his youth, Stan excelled at all sports and was particularly noted for his record setting speed. As an adult, that athleticism carried over into the game of golf in which he was highly accomplished. Stan married Vian Haverland in 1982, and that union blessed them with their only child, Christopher. Stan was passionate about his family, his golfing friends at Canyon Meadows, his Oklahoma Sooners and his work. Stan was very proud of his work ethic and would have been content if that was all that was said of him. Stan’s logical mind served him very well over the years as a logistics coordinator in the trucking industry. Stan was a caring and attentive son to Jane and Ralph (Dixie), a wonderful father to Chris (Kristen) and a loving grandfather to their son, Aiden. He was also a compassionate and supportive big brother to his sister Kim (Wes), his brothers Keith and Doug (Marilyn) and an amazing uncle to CJ, Ryon, Trevor, Joel, Felicia and Reid. He was a loyal friend to countless people whom he enjoyed spending time with and a committed and tireless worker throughout his career. Stan will be remembered by family and friends as humble, generous, quiet, incredibly smart and thoughtful; a loyal man of few words who chose to do rather than say. Stan manifested calmness and strength and was a real world example of the adage “still waters run deep”. He will also be remembered for his keen sense of humour. Stan was blessed to have so many special people in his life that were with him to share the laughs, victories and setbacks. This became so evident in the outpouring of love and support he received after his cancer diagnosis, and carried him through the dark days this past year. Our family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and care providers for the compassion and kindness extended to Stan. A Celebration of Stan’s Life will be held at The Canyon Meadows Golf Club (12501 – 14th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Canyon Meadows Golf Club.
