Obituary of Margaret Moffatt PENFORD

June 17, 1954 – July 14, 2021 

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret Penford (nee Cameron). Margaret passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at the age of 67.

Margaret was born and raised in South Africa where she met and married Trevor Penford in 1979. In 1981 they embarked on their transglobal travel adventure, finally landing in Edmonton, Canada the following year. They became proud Canadians and settled in Sherwood Park, AB, where their three children, Jennifer, Geoffrey, and Kerri were born.

In the summer of 1993, the family moved to Calgary. At first Margaret stayed home and devoted her time and love to raising the family before returning to work to build a career as a successful commercial insurance broker. Margaret retired at the age of sixty and immersed herself in a full social life of squash, golf, cycling, running, hiking and travel. She relished the increased time she was able to devote to friends, family, her cats and especially her first grandchild, Marlow Puglia. 

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Margaret’s love of cats was well known. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Margaret’s honour should be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society www.CalgaryHumane.ca.
