Obituary of Burt HOFFMAN

July 12, 1925 - July 16, 2021

 

It is with great sadness we announce Burt’s passing at the Chinook Care Centre on July 16, 2021 at the age of 96. He suffered from dementia for the past 6 years. Burt will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Leni (nee Eckmann) of 70 years; daughter, Dr. Joan F. Hoffman (Robert Kersey); son, Dr. Kenneth L. Hoffman (Nicole Cushing); grandchildren, Noah Kersey (Lisa Lenherr), Maryn and Toren Hoffman and his great-grandchildren, Ellea and Metta Kersey.

 

Burt was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 12, 1925 to Thelma and Stanley Hoffman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1950.  The family moved to Calgary, AB in 1970.  Burt retired in 2011 after 61 years of practicing dentistry.

 

Burt loved music and tennis and played the saxophone. He was a member of the Dental Band “The Holy Molars”. He was an avid tennis player, playing well into his late 80s. Burt was a kind and gentle man. He loved his family. He was content with life and his profession, and he had no regrets.

 

A private funeral was held at the Beth Tzedec Memorial Park (122 Shalom Way SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 19, 2021. If friends so desire donations may be made to Jewish Family Services, #420, 5920 - 1A Street SW, Calgary, AB T2H 0G3 or to a charity of your choice.
