Obituary of Hospicia ARCEGA (nee Umamos)

October 14, 1936 – Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines

July 16, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Hospicia Arcega, or Hospi, as she was known to family and friends, entered into God’s presence on Friday, July 16, 2021, at the age of 84 years.

Hospi was born in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. From there she attended the Women’s University in Manila and received her BS in Psychology. On April 8, 1961, she married Renato Arcega at the Central Methodist Church in Manila and then immigrated to Calgary, AB, in December 1966. Hospi loved to travel, sing, and cooking for family and friends. She loved to spend time with her children and their families and was always active in the churches she and Rene attended.

Hospi is survived by her husband of sixty years, Rene Arcega, her five children, Hannah (Rob) of Calgary, AB, Rossana (Scott) of Calgary, AB, Jason (Wendy) of Atlanta, GA, Ian (Kristen) of Calgary, AB, Anthony (Dana) of Hamilton, ON; sixteen grandchildren, Aaron, Chris, Tim, Nate, Tali, Maia, Rachel, Joshua, Caleb, Marco, Rey, Sadie, Caelen, Gabe, Lauryn and Julian; and five great-grandchildren, Maddie, Theo, Uma, Felix and Nova.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at First Church of the Nazarene (65 Richard Way S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, July 23, 2021, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene (65 Richard Way S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Graveside Service will follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
