Condolences
I am so sorry to hear of Captain Bill’s passing. May he rest in peace, and may his family be comforted by the countless memories he leaves with you.
I will miss you my friend. Many good memories from the Patricias and SAMD.
Bill was a very popular officer in both the Quen’s Own & the Patricias. In the early 8Os, as Base Duty Officer, he gained fame by calmly defusing a Sunday morning demonstration of Sarcee Indian wives with baby carrages, etc, trying to exercise rights to access our Sarcee Camp. With local TV stations filming Bill opened the offending gate and talking to the camers said, “it’s far too nice a day to arrest anyone!” The cameras were turned off and camera crews and Indians departed peacefully. Way to go Bill!
Sorry Marj to hear of the passing of Bill. Thinking of you and Steven and Bryan. Bill was courageous in his battle with ms. John let me know of Bill passing. Frances Doherty (Whillans)
Bill was a good friend. He was a wealth of knowledge to young officers, and was always willing to share that with all who would take advantage of it. Bill came to the NE Armoury on more than one occasion, and it was always good to share time with him. My best to all those who will remember him.
Bill was a dedicated professional soldier. Always happy and smiling in the face of adversity. It was an honour to have known, served and worked with Bill.
Pax Vobiscum. Harry
My condolences on the passing of Bill. I remember him with fondness and his teaching and mentoring to me back in 1987-88. While Bill was working in the Southern Alberta Militia District I was the Second in Command of the Battle School in Mewata Armoury. Bill mentored me in all my staff writing – all of which had to pass by him – sometimes several times. He was a great friend and mentor – old dog (captain) to young dog (captain).
He is remembered fondly.

I knew Bill since we were commissioned and served briefly with him in Calgary in the 70’s. I will never forget his kindness to me during RV81 that he personally came down from Brigade HQ to 3PPCLI to tell me that my father had died. That was Bill…
It was a great pleasure to serve with you as well as know you Sir . I hope that you enjoy your re-org with your old friends in heaven but remember this . You will be missed .
On behalf of the members of the Mid-Island Branch of the PPCLI Association, our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Bill Guscott. A great man and an awesome soldier.
Sincerely.

Dear Derek and Family,
We were very saddened hearing of the passing of your father who was a kind man and much respected by my parents.
We have thought of you and your family many times over the years and with distance have lost touch.
We wish you much love,

I served with Bill in the 80s. He was a great boss, a fine soldier and a good friend. We’ll see you on the reorg Bill
Bill’s weary soul is finally at rest after his unbelievable, courageous battle. To Marj and the boys my condolences, and Marj after many decades of relentless care, attention and love, Bill leaves you … with a full heart..!
Bill had a long, hard struggle but was always happy, smiling and full of life, regardless of what his body said. It doesn’t matter what the topic, Bill always said “I agree”. It speaks to who he was. Bill touched an immeasurable amount of lives and we are proud to say he touched ours. We had a rum and Coke with the family with his favourite rum, and “Sir William of Guscott” will now remain in our hearts forever.
